SATURDAY IMPROV CONTEST
during the course of the school year and over the summer, high schoolers who are interested in pursuing jazz improvisation submit recordings to our panel of judges, local music teachers. two students are selected to work with local professional musicians in a one-on-one, workshop setting to further develop their skills and concepts before performing on Fox Jazz Fest’s Saturday stage!

every year, Fox Jazz Fest’s Sunday stage begins at 10am with a clinic intended to engage all students involved in the festival, as well as anyone from the community who might be curious about the process of improvising individually and collectively.

it provides a platform that allows for students from varying districts and musical backgrounds to converge, engage and play on a common ground. this unique, entertaining and informative event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
